Dunn Center celebrates legendary artist with grand opening of largest Bob Ross exhibit ever held

The “Fantastic Little Paintings” exhibit adorns the walls of The Mims Gallery at The Dunn Center and will be available for viewing through Jan. 4, 2024. This is the first time a Bob Ross exhibit has ever been to North Carolina, and with more than 75 paintings, it is the largest Bob Ross exhibition ever seen under one roof worldwide.

Ross’ television show, “The Joy of Painting,” aired from 1983 to 1994. He died in 1995. The company has grown into a $15 million operation, mainly focused on art supplies and classes but has begun to loan out his paintings to galleries as well.

To prepare for the showing, which has been a year in the making, the Dunn Center renovated its art gallery, boardroom and courtyard, thanks to three grants totaling more than $80,000.

Tickets are $15 per person and children under 5 can get in free. To purchase tickets, call the Dunn Center’s box office at (252) 985-5197.
